The longest day EVER with bugs...

So, is this the longest day ever or is someone playing a trick on me? I keep looking at the clock thinking it must be later than that. I've even left the room to look at other clocks. Granted, they are a minute or two off, but it's pretty much the same time...EARLY! Will this day ever end? I'm at lunch right now and I can't wait for it to be over...isn't that insane?

On another topic...my boss just called. About two weeks ago her daughter had lice. Poor thing. It's very uncomfortable and it really sucks to get rid of and people want to stay away from you and scratch whenever they see you. They're just bugs, people. I bet your scratching just reading this. Anyhow, last Thursday we had a cookout here at work during lunch. The kids came and played together. The lice had been gone for a while...or so we thought. I just got a phone call. The lice is back and now my boss has it too. So now I have to check my daughter and my head. It wouldn't be that big of a deal except she started school yesterday so if she does have it I'll have to inform the school and they'll have to fumigate! Isn't it fun? Great, now I'm scratching...mind over matter. That's a good topic for next time!

What are they thinking?

What are stars thinking when they go out in public sometimes? I mean, if I had Louis Vitton handing me clothing I would be picky about which items of his I would put on my body. Why? Because I could afford to! I probably wouldn't dress to impress all the time. I love jeans...even Levis. I love sweats. I love hats. I love flip flops. BUT when it comes to going to an event where every eye and camera would be on me? I wouldn't have dressed like THIS!!! Jessica Simpson is my all time favorite actress/singer/star/designer/rich person...whatever you want to call her...I LOVE HER! BUT what the hell was she wearing last night?

First off, it looks like her stylist, Ken Paves forgot to cut the front of her hair. The long in the front short in the back look is just not doing it for me! Isn't that how the woman from Rocky Horror Picture Show has her hair? Secondly, what is that outfit all about? It looks like her and Nick were in the bedroom and she said, "Oh shit, baby, I'm supposed to be at the MTV Video Music Awards. That's okay, I'll just wear this." and went to the show wearing her Fredrick's of Hollywood apparel half ripped off her body. Want to know what's sad but true? I think Ashley was dressed better! Her hair doesn't look much better, though.

These pictures are from sweetkisses. It's a great site! You should check it out if you like geogeous blondes that have style most of the time.

...or these?

I don't know what pictures to use!

County Fairs

Aren't county fairs fun? I always think of pigs and cows and beauty pageants and women with big hair and old men in suspenders. Well, our local county fair is coming up and I wanted to be part of the fun this year, so Connor and Caitlyn and I are entering "stuff" into the exhibits. The prizes are very small. The kids can win ribbons and the adults can win up to $5!!! Which is pretty funny since it costs $10 to get into the fair! So, Connor and I are entering photos. Connor is also going to bake brownies...from a box, of course, and Caitlyn is going to color a picture that they have provided for her and she's going to decorate a T-shirt. The picture has, what else, pigs and cows and a barn on it! Doesn't it sound like fun? Well, Connor doesn't know it yet, but he's going to the zoo tomorrow and he's going to take my digital camera with him so he can get some great animal shots! The pictures I have posted today are some that I might be entering. There's a category for digitally enhanced and one for non-enhanced...um, think they can really tell if I lightened it a bit? How about if I changed it from color to black and white? Enhanced means, like, turned psychedelic colors and stuff...right?

Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between (me) and (my hubby) has a very good chance of being successful, but this doesn't mean that you don't have to work on the relationship. Remember that every relationship needs spending time together, talking with each other etc.

Did I leave ya hangin'?

So, I guess I started a bunch of stuff that I never finished. It's like when the last chapter in a book is missing. You've taken the time to read it and now you'll never know how it ends, right. Well, my friends, not here. I just took a bit of a break and now I'm back. I didn't realize how many people read this thing until I came to work today and had a bunch of emails asking me to post again. Ah, cyber-popularity...isn't it creepy? Anywho...where was I?

Crazy neighbor update: Thursday night I went to a neighbor's house. He told me I should apologize to crazy girl because her husband was going to make my life hell if I didn't. WHAT? I'm not one to apologize for something I did right. Now I was pissed! I stormed down to the neighbor's house with my husband and we had a screaming match for about an hour. In the end I think we agreed to disagree as long as someone was outside while their kids are outside on my land. Which is all I asked for in the first place. The one funny part of that night? She asked me if I thought she didn't watch her kids well enough and I looked her right in the face and said "Yes, that's exactly what I think." I don't know if you'd call us friends again, but at least I can drive by her house without getting hit with those daggers!

Dukes of hazard update: Friday night I went with two of my friends. We were very lucky to get seats together because it was packed. I laughed out loud a lot. Jessica was gorgeous, as usual. She didn't have as many lines as I would have liked, but I'll accept that. The car scenes were better than any I've ever seen! It was a mix of comedy and action...it was great! I almost yelled YEE-HAW at one point. Now that I think of it I probably could have and no one would have flinched because of the type of people that were there. I live in redneckville and the theatre was full of us! I counted ten cowboy hats! The guy in front of me had a big wad of minty chew in his lip. YEE-HAW would have fit right in.

Well, that's all the loose ends I think I left. I'm going to write more tomorrow...or will I?

Is it Friday?

Well, I decided half way through today to take tomorrow off so here's a picture for Friday! Guess what I'll be doing this weekend? Enjoy! (thanks sweetkisses.net!)

Laugh out loud...go ahead!

The reply

This email is in response to a previous email received. First and foremost, I would also like to reiterate that the kids safety is also a first priority with us as well. Eshra and I also think it is great having a neighborhood that all has something in common. The kids all enjoy riding together. But, as it seems there are only a few kids that are accepted to ride free through other peoples land.

You keep referring to supervision, you mean to tell me that you follow your kids through the woods each and every time they visit the "common woods". We are supervising our children just as well as you are. Just because we don't sit up there with you neighbors drinking beer and socializing, doesn't mean we are not watching our children. And Bo I didn't know you were in any kind of a position to speak of how other people watch their children, its not like we're taking off and leaving while they're in the woods. So far as supervision worry about you own theories of supervision.

And yes I also feel the kids should respect these vehicles. But don't be a hypocrite BO by drinking and driving way to be good role models. Your trying to teach them right, well open your eyes and look what they see. And as far as land owners, not one person but us has asked Steve the neighbor between us if he minds if the kids ride on his property. And the "rollercoaster" you have built is also on another persons property. So has the permission been granted? How about riding in the sandpits marked NO TRESPASSING. Good lesson for the kids. AT this rate, we have decided that our kids will not ride on any other property unless invited to the neighborhood common woods by the owners.

I have my attorney working on a letter to release the responsibility of the land owners so there will be no worry of responsibility for the land owner.

Well, now let me pick this apart a bit.

All the children in the neighborhood are allowed to ride on the trails. That was part of the original agreement. So I'm not sure why she said, "there are only a few kids that are accepted to ride free through other peoples land." She's the only one without trails behind her house...is that why she's the only one that's upset?

When I spoke with her husband, Eshra, on the phone I said I just wanted an adult outside with them not necessarily on the trails. So, no, I don't follow my children on the trails but I AM outside when they are riding. "We are supervising our children just as well as you are. Just because we don't sit up there with you...drinking beer..." She knows very well that I drink VERY rarely and only if it's a Saturday. The last time I had an alcoholic beverage was July 23rd.

"So as far as supervision worry about you own theories of supervision." IT'S MY LAND!!! I SHOULD be able to ask you to watch your children while using MY land! If you want to leave your children unsupervised on YOUR land, then go ahead! BUT NOT ON MY LAND!!!

"drinking and driving way to be good role models" I believe her husband lost his license for a few years WAY before my husband started drinking and driving 4-wheelers (while the children are in bed!)

"Not one person but us has asked Steve...so has permission been granted?" Actually, we did ask and he's fine with it. Also, the "rollercoaster" was built by MY husband because he was asked by the neighbor to build it for the neighbor's son. The agreement was made with ALL the neighbors!

"How about riding in the sand pits..." Um...this one is funny! Her husband, Eshra, was the one who introduced my family to the sand pits. AND he was the one who was riding so recklessly that he ran my 6-year-old off the road and caused him to be afraid to ride for a long time. My children don't go there anymore, but my husband does. The cops have stopped him, but they usually say "keep it safe" and leave him alone.

Dee's final thought: If she has decided that her kids won't ride on our land anymore then why is she spending the money to have a lawyer write a release of responsibility for the land owners?

Waste Time at work!

RESPECT...what does it mean to you?

I live on a back road. I have almost three acres of land. Everyone in the neighborhood has either a dirt bike or a four-wheeler or something like that. We have trails behind our house that are perfect for riding these ATVs. Our neighbors to the left and their neighbors do too! It's fun! I want them destroyed! I now HATE having land! We had an agreement with everyone on the street: You use our land, we use yours and no one blames anyone else if they get hurt. Well, one family didn't think this meant they had to be respectful and actually watch their children while riding on our land. So I called them to clear it up. I thought I was nice about it. All I said was I want your children supervised by an adult while they are on my land. These parents are known in the community for not paying attention to their children. They are also known in the town for "pawning their children off on others so they don't have to deal with them." (not my words!) Well, these neighbors went completely crazy and tried to get the whole neighborhood mad at us. Well, the neighbors all called me to reassure me that I was right to want them to care for their children when they are on my land. It's the respectful thing to do. Maybe I shouldn't, but I am going to post the email my husband sent to the whole neighborhood about this. Names have been changed out of respect. Here it is:

After I spoke with you on the phone I realized I could not clearly describe Dee and my position with regards to children operating motorized vehicles in the common woods behind Jim and Chers house, Bills and Lanas house, and our house. So I felt it might be best to try to do it in writing, and send copy to all the neighbors so there are no misunderstandings.

I personally feel that it is great having neighbors that allow other people to use their land for recreational use, that is something that is truly hard to find. I appreciate it, and I am sure the rest of you do as well. However there has been an issue that has been troubling me for some time with regards to the safety of our children.

I feel that a young child operating a motorized vehicle is dangerous to begin with. Those machines need to be treated with a tremendous amount of respect and care to avoid serious injury. This respect is not always given by young children. They feel, as we all did at one time, invincible. Children sometimes don't understand the repercussions of their actions so they may have a tendency to ride carelessly and get hurt as we have already seen many of them do already.

Sunday, I heard two bikes in the woods. At first I didnt give it any thought because the kids are always back there having fun. Then I noticed that Bill wasnt out side with them, Cher wasnt outside with them, and I was about to leave the house for the day. I suddenly didnt feel so comfortable with this situation knowing that these children were riding with no supervision. I then asked my wife to call the parents of the children and explain that we didnt like the fact that these kids were operating motorized vehicles behind the houses unsupervised. Apparently this ruffled some feathers, but I am standing behind what I have said. I dont want any children operating motorized vehicles in the woods UNSUPERVISED. Please note that the key is unsupervised. I feel that if there is anyone riding in the woods in back there should be some supervision to at least available if an accident should occur. I don’t feel that this is an unreasonable request.

Maybe I am wrong, overreacting, or just paranoid about the safety of your kids, but please understand that all I am asking for is some on site supervision when we allow our children to ride.

There's a reply from her that I will post at a different time...probably tomorrow.
